Kamakura Museum of Literature

Enjoy literary works with links to Kamakura in a Western building from early Showa.

The museum opened in 1985 with the aim of collecting, preserving, and exhibiting the handwritten manuscripts, letters, and treasured objects of writers with links to Kamakura. There are easily more than 300 writers who lived in or spent time in Kamakura. The museum presents the whole range from the classics to contemporary works, including Yasunari Kawabata, Jiro Osaragi, and others among the Kamakura literati.
